In response to Vancouver being named the ‘Unhappiest City in Canada’, one local event organizer is putting together a free community barbeque at Kits Beach this weekend.
Slide the Main, the organizers of the hopeful Main Street slip-and-slide event, are planning the Open Community BBQ at Kits Beach on Saturday, May 9.
“What happens when you put 100 strangers together at a park BBQ? you have an EPIC party!” The Facebook event page reads. The party is a blank canvas event, meaning it is being organized with the intention that attendees come and make their own fun.
Everyone is welcome to come and bring their own food and activities to play, but organizers are not open to people using the event to sell their goods. The event begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday and runs the whole day.
In a survey released last month, Statistics Canada revealed that of 33 census metropolitan areas in Canada, Vancouver ranks the lowest in life satisfaction.
