Olympic athlete admits to cheating on girlfriend after winning bronze

A Norwegian Olympic athlete gave one of the strangest interviews you will ever hear after winning bronze at Milano Cortina 2026.

Sturla Holm Lægreid, a biathlete, made his way onto the podium after finishing third in the men’s 20km biathlon on Tuesday.

Rather than being thrilled by his accomplishments, however, the 28-year-old admitted that this past week has been the hardest of his life. The reason, you ask? Well… he was, by his own admittance, unfaithful in his relationship.

“There’s someone I wanted to share it with who might not be watching,” he told NRK, Norway’s state broadcaster (translated via Google Translate). “Six months ago, I met the love of my life, the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. Three months ago, I made the biggest mistake and cheated on her.

“I had the gold medal in life, and I am sure there are many people who will see things differently, but I only have eyes for her.”

Holm Lægreid, who won gold in the men’s relay event at the 2022 Winter Olympics, was visibly emotional throughout the interview. He admitted that he told his partner about his unfaithfulness “about a week ago” and explained that the circumstances affected his ability to properly prepare for the Olympics.

Holm Lægreid also made it clear that he had no regrets when it came to making the rather embarrassing revelation.

“If this can give me a tiny chance to tell her how much I love her, I’d rather commit social suicide on live TV just to get that small chance.”

Holm Lægreid’s teammate, Johan-Olav Botn, was able to win gold in the event, while Eric Perrot of France captured silver.
