The BC Prosecution Service is charging a volleyball coach with numerous counts of sexual assault.
Iraj Mozaffari from North Vancouver was charged with 10 counts: three counts of sexual interference of a person under 16, two counts of touching a young person for sexual purposes, and five counts of sexual assault.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between January 2016 and December 2024.
This comes after North Vancouver RCMP received multiple reports on Dec. 22, 2024, that youths had been allegedly sexually assaulted by Mozaffari while participating in a local volleyball team.
Police responded by conducting an extensive investigation, speaking with multiple witnesses and victims.
“We understand that this news may be upsetting for members of the community and especially for the victims,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak with the North Vancouver RCMP.
“We would like to thank those that came forward to provide statements. Without their courage, we would not be in the position we are in today.”
“For some, hearing about this may bring on memories of past trauma. If you are a victim, please reach out for support,” he added. “We want you to know we are here, we will listen, and we will support you.”
