A man was caught on video committing a stranger attack on Commercial Drive, and he has been linked to at least four prior attacks against women in Vancouver.
According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), 29-year-old Dylan Brandon Gaita has been charged with one count of assault in connection with an incident on June 29.
Gaita is currently in custody.
VPD has shared a video of the recent attack, which shows Gaita allowing several people to pass by him before he sticks his elbow up, striking a woman. It then appears as though he reacts as if it were an accident.

In connection with the June 29 attack, the VPD is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police, as investigators believe there are other victims who haven’t come forward.
“Incidents like this are serious and frightening for victims and witnesses,” said VPD Constable Megan Lui in a statement. “Some people may feel too upset to talk to us. We encourage anyone with information to come forward and speak with investigators as they work on this case.”
The VPD shared some information about Gaita earlier this year, in relation to four stranger attacks against women in Vancouver.
In March, the VPD shared that Gaita was charged in connection with four assaults between January 2025 and January 2026.
“Each incident allegedly involved the suspect elbowing or shoulder-checking the victims while passing them on downtown sidewalks – in some cases knocking them to the ground,” VPD said at the time.
Gaita was eventually arrested on March 5, 2026, in connection with the previous attacks.
“Unprovoked violence against strangers is an ongoing concern for everyone, and we know that sometimes these incidents are not immediately reported to police,” Lui said back in March.
