North Vancouver RCMP are seeking a driver who is believed to have struck a pedestrian crossing the street in a wheelchair.

Footage released by the RCMP shows a brief glimpse of the vehicle allegedly involved, thanks to dash-cam footage. The driver has been circled in red, and the video cuts off just after the collision occurs.

The incident took place on Feb. 5, at around 8:07 p.m. North Vancouver RCMP received multiple reports of a hit and run collision at the intersection of West 3rd Street and Bewicke Avenue.

RCMP says it’s alleged that the pedestrian in the wheelchair was crossing the street when a vehicle making a left turn struck them.

” The pedestrian sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. They are expected to recover,” RCMP said.

While the video doesn’t show a clear shot of the vehicle, the RCMP describe it as a grey sedan.

“Police are releasing dash cam video of the incident in hopes that further witnesses with critical information will come forward,” said Corporal Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for the North Vancouver RCMP, in a statement.

“We are also asking the driver to do the right thing and come forward, it will help investigators gain a clearer understanding of what occurred,” Sahak added.

Anyone with further dash cam footage, CCTV footage, or other information relating to the alleged incident is being asked to call North Van RCMP at 604-985-1311, quoting file number 26-2488.
