It was a bad day for a North Vancouver motorcyclist, who got caught riding dangerously while allegedly on his way to his road test in Burnaby.
Earlier this week, the VPD Traffic Section shared a post on X about an incident in Burnaby on Brunette Highway.
According to the post, the VPD Traffic Enforcement team member who spotted the motorcyclist was on his way home after a “long FIFA shift.”
He then observed a sports motorcycle splitting lanes between eight sets of vehicles.
When he was stopped, the motorcyclist told police that he was 15 minutes late for his ICBC motorcycle road test. The officer discovered that the motorcycle rider only had a Learner’s permit.
“He’ll have to reschedule,” the VPD Traffic Section quipped in the post.
For his mistakes, the motorcyclist was fined for driving contrary to restrictions (for being a Learner rider and not having a supervisor).
The motorcyclist from North Vancouver was also fined for other road infractions, like driving contrary to restrictions for speed (restricted to 60 km/h). The motorcyclist had failed to display his L, and while lane splitting, failed to signal his lane changes.
The VPD Traffic Section states that the motorcyclist was fined for driving without consideration, and as the picture indicates, his motorcycle was towed.
The sum of his violation tickets will lead to being on the hook for hundreds of dollars.

“I’m [surprised] the officer wasn’t impressed by that excuse,” said one X user in response.
“The good news [is] he’ll have plenty of time to prepare for that road test since he won’t be eligible for a long time,” someone else said.
Speaking of tests, in case you missed it, ICBC now allows drivers to take their knowledge tests online.
