Four people have been arrested after a suspected home invasion in North Vancouver.
According to the Vancouver Police Department, the four men were arrested by the Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team in North Vancouver, in connection with an ongoing investigation that the VPD Major Crime Section was leading.
According to investigators, the four suspects forcibly entered a North Vancouver home near Dollar Road and Dollarton Highway, and unlawfully confined a 45-year-old man inside of it.
Police said they believe that the victim was “specifically targeted” and the four men were arrested yesterday. VPD didn’t share the specific date and time of the incident.
A statement from the VPD released on Friday afternoon states that the victim was safely rescued and only sustained minor injuries and that the four suspects connected to the incident remain in custody at this time.
The suspected home invasion had a ripple effect in the area.
“Out of abundance of precaution, a North Vancouver elementary school in the area was placed on lockdown procedures until the incident was resolved,” VPD’s release says.
Two North Vancouver educational institutions are located near the area where the suspected home invasion took place, including The Hirose Institute and Sherwood Park Elementary School.
Officers with North Vancouver RCMP are still on scene to assist in the investigation.
VPD says that more information will be released as it becomes available.
