"Normal Barbie": Doll with average body proportions for sale

Dec 19 2017, 8:52 pm

What if fashion dolls were made using standard human body proportions? That’s the question Nickolay Lamm asked himself before creating Lammily, a doll with typical body proportions, acne, cellulite, freckles, injuries and more.

The Lammily Doll, a brunette Caucasian female with the style and proportions of today’s average young woman, is the first of its kind.

While the first dolls have not yet shipped, Lamm and his team of designers have plans to broaden the range of dolls in 2015. “We’re hoping to extend the line to embrace diversity. From race to body type, we want this doll to be true to you,” Lamm writes on the company’s website.

There are currently seven outfits available to purchase with the doll, inspired by cities around the world. Also available are the “Lammily Marks” – stickers to adorn Lammily with unique and realistic features such as:

  • cellulite
  • stretch marks
  • freckles
  • acne
  • glasses
  • blushing
  • adhesive bandages
  • moles
  • temporary tattoos
  • stitches
  • scrapes and scratches
  • bruises
  • casts
  • scars
  • mosquito bites
  • grass and dirt stains

In March 2014, Lamm started a crowdfunding campaign to bring these dolls to life. His socially conscious idea sparked the interest of media around the world, including Time, Buzzfeed, The Huffington Post and others, making his vision a reality. More than 13,621 backers, preordered over 19,000 dolls.

Dolls and accessories are now available to purchase online and shipping will begin on November 28.
