Busy New Westminster street to be closed for the entire weekend

Due to ongoing road work as part of the Patullo Bridge Replacement Project, a busy New Westminster street will be closed for the entire weekend.
Front Street will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, June 20, to 5:30 a.m. on Monday, June 23.
According to Fraser Crossing Constructors GP (FCGP), the closure is necessary to allow crews to advance bridge deck construction in New West.
Front Street gets particularly busy on Friday nights for Fridays on Front, but the weekly event doesn’t start until next month.
Front Street Mews and Columbia Street aren’t expected to be affected by the closure, and FCGP says that businesses will remain open. Access to businesses in downtown New Westminster will also be unaffected.
Last month, the Patullo Bridge was completely closed to traffic for multiple days due to roadwork.
Another development we were made aware of last year is that the opening of the new Patullo Bridge has been pushed back to Fall 2025.
When major construction work first began in Spring 2021, the targeted opening date was late 2023. Shortly after, in Spring 2022, this opening date was moved to 2024.
Last May, the Government of British Columbia confirmed that the expected opening of the new replacement Pattullo Bridge is slated for Fall 2025.
