
A camera was discovered inside a changing room at a New Westminster park, and police are now looking to identify the suspect.
According to the New Westminster Police Department, the incident occurred inside the men’s changing room at Upper Hume Park.
Someone who called into the department said they discovered a camera underneath a bench inside the changeroom.
Upper Hume Park is located near East Columbia and Braid streets in the Sapperton area of New West, near the Great Canadian Casino. Its amenities include a grass field, a picnic shelter, access to the Brunette River, and the Brunette-Fraser trail.
Other features include an outdoor pool, a spray park, and an off-leash dog area.
After receiving the call, New Westminster Police Department officers visited Upper Hume Park and searched the changerooms. After the search, police seized the camera for processing.
“We understand how upsetting and disturbing this discovery is for park users,” said New Westminster Police Sergeant Justine Thom in a statement.
“Our team is reviewing evidence and working to find who is responsible.”
The department also asks anyone with more information about this incident to contact them by calling 604-525-5411.
Police have asked the person behind the incident to turn themselves in.
