It was inevitable really. The much maligned new Vancouver logo has taken to Twitter to defend itself.
The spoof Twitter account at @covlogo was launched on Saturday, three days after the new Gotham font logo, which cost $8,000, was revealed.

In its first tweet, the poor logo explained that he had “birthed himself”, because the official City of Vancouver Twitter account had not yet adopted the new logo.
Hi #Vancouver. I birthed myself because my better looking stepsister @CityofVancouver hasn’t updated her logo yet. Thank gawd. #vanpoli pic.twitter.com/abvfHKvEDk

Anyways, you guys are starting to hurt my feelings 😭, so I thought I’d get on @twitter to express myself. NOW U CAN HEAR IT FROM THE SOURCE.

The City has said the new logo was designed with social media in mind, to make the city’s brand easier to read on a small screen. The new logo seems to disagree.
I look so good. Don’t you agree? Common #Vancouver…give me some love. My parents at City Hall made me so you can see me clearly online!!! pic.twitter.com/edLTFnYM52

@BrianTJames @vancbcmcarthur But I’m bolder and work better online says dad @MayorGregor. CAN’T U SEE???
— Vancouver Logo (@covlogo) March 2, 2017
Or maybe the social media person behind @CityOfVancouver secretly hates me too. 😭 Being on digital is LITERALLY MY PURPOSE IN LIFE #vanpoli https://t.co/ITdxVeGZbj

Pretty disturbingly, the new logo refers to Mayor Gregor Robertson as “Dad.”
HAY! SOMEONE TOOK THE TIME TO DRAW ME!!! Dad @MayorGregor do you like my portrait? My DNA is your DNA. #fatherdaughter4eva https://t.co/knJAiPah5U
— Vancouver Logo (@covlogo) February 26, 2017
Um…Dad @MayorGregor, how many of these garbage bins are in @CityofVancouver? I need to grace my face on them ASAP. #vanpoli @drex pic.twitter.com/83JsUOZyzQ
— Vancouver Logo (@covlogo) February 27, 2017
@SpiderRider3 @CityofVancouver @drex Are you calling me garbage? You know that my DNA is my dad’s @MayorGregor‘s DNA right?!? #vanpoli
— Vancouver Logo (@covlogo) March 2, 2017
And it would appear the new logo believes Coun. Andrea Reimer is his mother.
DAD @MayorGregor, MOM @andreareimer, WHY DOESN’T ANYONE LIKE ME?!? I AM YOU, YOU ARE ME. #vanpoli https://t.co/cFGSobSuq4
— Vancouver Logo (@covlogo) February 28, 2017
HEY EVERYONE!! My mom @andreareimer just blocked me on Twitter. Think she’s gonna kick me out of the @CityofVancouver house soon?!? #vanpoli pic.twitter.com/SOIAdVTnqg

He’s also certainly not afraid to acknowledge his heritage.
Found my sexy grandpas on a pole today. THEY ARE THE OG HIPSTERS OF VANCOUVER. Take that Gotham. #vanpoli pic.twitter.com/ySPi3bozau

Although the poor little guy’s future is uncertain…
Dad @MayorGregor says I won’t be slapped all over @CityofVancouver after all. SAVED U ALL 💰💰💰 TO SAVE PPL INSTEAD (maybe). You win. #vanpoli https://t.co/14xpOmWwAE
— Vancouver Logo (@covlogo) March 1, 2017
And this doesn’t look good for the family relationship…
@KQ_VanCity Maybe dad @MayorGregor is at fault for even wanting to make me in 1st place. Heard ppl say there are bigger issues. #vanpoli
— Vancouver Logo (@covlogo) March 1, 2017
Dad @MayorGregor doesn’t like talking about me much ☹️ #vanpoli #vancouverlogo https://t.co/JiZVBqG4wm
