If you’re a foodie who is always on the go and short on time—you’re in luck!
Spoon, a new start-up company based in Gastown, is offering a text-based food delivery service to select downtown office buildings.
By creating an account with Spoon, you will be notified every weekday morning by text message of their two featured dishes for that day. If you’d like to order one of the meals, simply reply back with selection “a” or “b.” The meals range in price from $8 to $13, which includes the cost of food, tax and delivery. The customer is then billed automatically through their credit card on file.
The company has been up and running for about five months now and was founded by Sherwyn Poon, Regina Wong and Fouad Farraj.
“We came up with the idea for Spoon while working at start-ups. We were tired of the same lunch options every day near the office,” said Wong, Co-founder. “Being strictly text-based makes it easier and more convenient for people to decide what to eat and to order their food.”
Wong says their target market is people who are limited on time but still want amazing food.
Spoon picks up meals from some of the best restaurants and food trucks in the city. Some previous lunch options have included tasty dishes from Tacofino, Mogu, DD Mau, Culver City Salads and Hubbub sandwiches, to name a few. Wong mentions they are always looking for new restaurants and food trucks to partner up with.
Currently, they deliver to local start-ups including A Thinking Ape and Hootsuite. They are hoping to expand their clientele and accept invite requests from various office buildings in the downtown area. Requests will be approved, depending on whether or not the building fits along their delivery route. If you’d like Spoon to deliver to you, text “invite” to 778-730-0101.
