A revered American astrophysicist and science communicator made his way to the Vancouver space centre, and it looked like he had a blast.

H.R. MacMillan Space Centre shared the news on its social media channels yesterday, saying it was “honoured to welcome the one and only Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson to the Space Centre.”

The space centre added that it was thrilled to have him explore the centre’s various spaces, meet staff, and speak about inspiring youth and adults “in the work that we do together.”

It also pointed out that Tyson is the executive director at the Hayden Planetarium in New York.

“He brought insightful words about his experience as an esteemed astrophysicist and science communicator, which was truly inspiring!”

The Vancouver space centre also thanked him for his words and his visit, and also the caterers and beverage providers who made the event possible.

This was an inspiring day that will stay with us for a long time, and we look forward to continuing to ignite curiosity and passion for space in our community,” the space centre added.

The space centre’s video shows Tyson interacting with members of the public and some of the exhibits at the space centre.

Most people who chimed in on the comments were excited about his appearance.

One TikTok follower said, “No way! Love!”

Another person said, “That must have been an awesome experience.”

However, someone clearly isn’t a Tyson fan, saying, “I dislike this man immensely.”

The space centre currently has a bunch of shows and exhibits on, including features at the immersive dome like Beautifica 360.

“Created by visionary composer James Hood and acclaimed immersive artists,
Beautifica is the perfect date night or a unique evening with loved ones,” the space centre says.
