National Gear Up Day 2011

Dec 19 2017, 1:08 pm

On October 5th Canadians from coast to coast are being encouraged to wear a piece of cycling gear in support of the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the BC Cancer Foundation. Dubbed Gear Up Day the premise is simple – show that you care about the fight to conquer cancer by wearing something related to cycling. This is Vancouver so I’m sure a lot of you have spandex shorts, a cycling jersey, a helmet, gloves, etc. Their goal is to raise awareness about the Ride, the event that raised over $ 26 million for cancer research and care in BC in only three years, and to encourage people to register for the upcoming Ride.

The time for action is now: On average, 3,340 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer every week and 1,470 Canadians will die of cancer every week – an absolutely untenable situation.
