Now everyone sees Nathan Fielder: The rise of the Vancouver comic genius

Nathan Fielder is getting a ton of attention after the release of You Can See Everything, and some people may not realize that the funny man/documentarian is from right here in Vancouver.
His roots in Vancouver are deep, having been born and raised in the city, and he also has links to other celebrities in Vancouver, like Seth Rogen.
After being born in Vancouver, Fielder attended school here, including high school, when he attended Point Grey Secondary School, alongside Rogen.
There, before they became icons in the comedy genre, they were in their high school improv group together. Their improv fame was discussed on the popular Today I Learned subreddit because they won a provincial championship.
However, they lost nationally.
He then attended post-secondary at the University of Victoria, obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce with really good grades. He also founded the Summit Ice Apparel brand.
While Fielder has many notable works, it was probably his Comedy Central show Nathan For You that really put him on the map. He was also a correspondent in the popular Canadian news parody show This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
You Can See Everything is Fielder’s first non-fiction documentary film, which he co-directed with Primetime director Lance Oppenheim.
While Fielder was always popular, now everyone is talking about him, including WIRED, which recently published a riveting one-on-one with Fielder about You Can See Everything.
To say the movie has received critical acclaim is a massive understatement. As of this article’s publication, the film sits at a 99 Metascore on Metacritic, and it has been just as popular with users, becoming one of the top-rated flicks by Letterboxd users.
Considering how many critically acclaimed movies were released in 2026, it’s nothing short of miraculous for Fielder and Oppenheim’s documentary to be at the top of the heap now.
Additionally, it is already considered a huge box office success.
Fielder has also spoken about Vancouver in the past. He even spoke to former Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim as part of a show in Vancouver, though it wasn’t actually Sim, as you can read about on Daily Hive.
Hollywood North keeps picking up steam

Fielder is yet another prominent figure in the entertainment industry who has connections to Vancouver.
In recent years, Vancouver has constantly been in the conversation about entertainment thanks to many production wins in the entertainment industry, primarily due to the fact that the city, as well as the province of B.C., is so popular for film and TV production. A huge one was The Last of Us, but more recently, we also wrote a lot about the connections between Vancouver and the hit film Backrooms.
We also reported on the series Carrie and its links to Vancouver.
But it’s bigger than just being a popular place to film in.
For example, Oddfellows Entertainment/Phobos, one of the producers of the hit film Backrooms, is based right here in Vancouver, with Vancouverite Chris Ferguson at the helm. He co-founded Phobos with Osgood Perkins, who now also calls Vancouver home, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Oddfellows also just linked a major deal with Warner Bros.
