My Vancouver 2016: Vikram Vij

Welcome to My Vancouver 2016, a curation of local industry experts, community and thought leaders, each telling us their resolutions for Vancouver in 2016. Since 2008, we’ve been bringing you a bucket list of things to do around the city while also keeping you informed with the many issues in our community. Now, we’re focusing on what’s next: the evolution of our city into something greater, starting with 2016.

What do you do?

I’m a chef, a restauranteur, and a businessman, plus I like to lend a helping hand and I really love meeting people.

When did you come to Vancouver?

December 2015 marked my 21st anniversary of coming to Canada.

What do you love most about Vancouver?

There are few cities as diverse as Vancouver – and that means an amazing blend of cultures and cuisines, which leads to understanding, awareness, and acceptance. In changing times, I’m very happy to be in a city that welcomes differences.

If you could make one New Year’s resolution for your industry in Vancouver for 2016, what would it be?

I would want to encourage people to travel to different places and try different kinds of foods and enjoy life. It helps put things into perspective.
