TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival turns 34 this year, and the signature festival is taking place from June 21 to July 1, 2019 with free music workshops being offered throughout Vancouver.

With 1,800 artists, 300 performances, 35 venues, and 150+ free shows – including two spectacular outdoor presentations downtown and at David Lam Park – this annual summer Festival is not to be missed.

The Jazz Festival has lots of opportunities to learn more about music, musicians, techniques, and the artistic process through its carefully curated series of free workshops.

Workshops take place from June 24 to 28 at Tom Lee Music at 728 Granville Street at 1 pm daily.

Workshops include Montreal-based guitarist Vicky Mettler, NY pianist Angelica Sanchez, NY guitarist Ava Mendoza, NY pianist and vocalist Patricia Barber, and London-based pianist Alexander Hawkins.

Later that week, the action moves the Roundhouse Community Art and Recreation Centre, with Workshops at the studio beginning at 1:30 pm on Saturday, June 29 and continuing Sunday, June 30.

Artists include Ingrid Laubrock, Tomas Fujiwara, Jeff Younger, Malcolm Goldstein, Keir Neuringer, and member of In Love With.

This event is an awesome, free opportunity to get close to really interesting artists who are at the top of their fields.
