4As restaurants reopen for dine-in service across Canada, dining establishments are welcoming back guests with fresh and exciting new dishes.

Among them is Moxie’s, the popular gathering spot known for its diverse menu and crafty cocktails. The premium casual restaurant is welcoming back guests with their Summer Menu, now available at locations from coast to coast.

The Summer Menu offers something for everyone at a price point that makes it easy for friends to celebrate. Diners can choose from a wide range of dishes, whether they’re craving something sweet, tangy, spicy, crunchy, or a little bit of each.

For Moxie’s executive chef Brandon Thordarson, the dishes were born out of his world travels and experience cooking in international kitchens.

“Thanks to my travels, I know what a red Thai curry from a side stand in Bangkok tastes like. I’ve learnt how to balance the yin and yang of Asian ingredients to create savoury and sweet flavours. I understand pairing fresh fruit and citrus with fish because, living in Australia, I learned fish and fruit go hand-in-hand,” he tells Daily Hive.

This passion and inspiration can be seen in some of the menu’s most noteworthy new dishes. Take the Cashew Chicken Lettuce Wraps, for example.

“The goal was to create umami-loaded lettuce wraps where each ingredient’s flavour complemented the dish’s texture and delivered a fresh, crunchy bite every time – regardless of how our guest decides to assemble their lettuce wrap,” Chef Thordarson explains. “True to authentic Chinese and Japanese flavour profiles, our Cashew Chicken Lettuce Wraps are a cultural hotpot that everyone can enjoy.”

When speaking to the Roasted Tomatoes and Whipped Feta, he shares, “I like to call it Bruschetta 2.0 – it’s a unique take on a classic Italian appetizer. Think fresh tomatoes, pan-roasted and finished with dill, parsley, and garlic, served with lightly-whipped Macedonian feta.”

The dish also has an emotional connection for Chef Thordarson. “It reminds me of being at my grandma’s house in the summer; she’d pull tomatoes off the vine and start sautéing them. We would then smear this creamy, briny, and almost acidic cheese onto the bread to create a meal bursting with summer flavour.”

While Canadian producers have also played a key role in Moxie’s menu, the current moment means it’s more important than ever to support local.

“It’s always been my objective to get more local Canadian producers on our menu,” Chef Thordarson shared. “I love visiting local farmers, producers and suppliers that are doing amazing things within the community and seeing how we can work together to craft internationally inspired dishes that deliver a local twist.”

He continues, “We work with local farmers, like Windset Farms and Ponderosa Mushrooms out of British Columbia, and we source breads and pizza doughs from Crust Craft in Edmonton and Stuyver’s Bread on the West Coast.”

Other additions to the menu include Fresh Smashed Guacamole, Steak Frites, and the Blackened Chicken Burger. These fresh new items are available at any time of the day. If you’re dining in, you can also enjoy appetizers from Moxie’s Happy Hour menu for 25% off, from 3 pm to 6 pm and from 9 pm to close.

The dining experience is being made as contactless as possible, with hand sanitization stations at primary entrances and washrooms, frequent sanitization at tables and other high-touch points, as well as limited capacity dining to ensure everyone can relax and enjoy their visit.

Moxie’s is now open for indoor and outdoor dining, delivery, and curbside pick-up at select locations across Canada through SkipTheDishes and DoorDash. Furthermore, Canadians will soon be able to order their favourite dishes online through the Moxies.com website.

Sitting on a patio with a glass of RosĂ© Sangria in one hand and a Blackened Shrimp Taco in the other sounds like the perfect way to spend a weekend afternoon this summer — something we’ve sorely missed.

The restaurant is also offering 10% off food on all phoned-in pick-up orders, with the option of curbside delivery to your vehicle.
