The results are in for the Canadian semi-finals of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018 competition and a Montreal’s Chef Benjamin Mauroy-Langlais has won the title.
The Chef de Partie of Automne sealed his victory against nine fellow Canadian competitors with his signature dish featuring smoked eel and celeriac as judged by a panel of seasoned professionals including Chefs Anthony Walsh (Oliver & Bonacini), Riccardo Bertolino (Maison Boulud), Jen Agg (Grey Gardens, The Black Hoof, Cocktail Bar, Rhum Corner, and Agrikol), Joël Watanabe (Kissa Tanto and Bao Bei) and Todd Perrin (Mallard Cottage).
In a press release, Jennifer Semley Robert, Marketing Director, International Brands, Nestlé Waters Canada explains that “The S.Pellegrino Young Chef competition gives young Canadians not only an opportunity to showcase their exceptional culinary skills, but also a unique opportunity to learn from one of the world’s best chefs… It allows them to perfect their art and lay the foundations of a brilliant career.”
Mauroy-Langlais will now advance to represent Canada at the finale in Milan in June 2018 where he will go up against 20 competitors from around the globe.
