A mother and her two sons have been identified as the victims of a Surrey car crash that is now being investigated by homicide detectives.

The three family members were found dead inside a vehicle after police responded to a single-vehicle crash under the Highway 99 overpass near 32nd Avenue on Tuesday morning.

Their deaths are being treated as suspicious and the case has been handed over to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

The names of the deceased are not being released because of the ongoing investigation, says IHIT.

Cpl. Frank Jang said a residence in the 14900-block of 35 Avenue, not far from the crash site, is believed to be related to the investigation, and officers will be on site collecting evidence.

Serious crimes investigators from Surrey RCMP as well as IHIT will be in the area canvassing door-to-door for witnesses and information.
