Mohamed Fahmy and Kaitlyn Bristowe added to TEDxVancouver lineup
TEDxVancouver has added two more speakers to their official presenter lineup, and they will not disappoint.
Egyptian-Canadian journalist and now UBC professor Mohamed Fahmy, who was recently held in an Egyptian prison for over 400 days after working as Egypt Bureau Chief of Al Jazeera International news, will be speaking at the event, along with former Bachelorette and Vancouverite Kaitlyn Bristowe.
Bristowe is “known for her unapologetic resoluteness and a knack for quirky comedy,” according to TEDxVancouver organizers. During the 11th season of the Bachelorette this past summer, Bristowe caused an internet uproar for sleeping with more than one man during the show.
“Kaitlyn is an ambassador for self-acceptance in light of a backlash of cyberbullying that resulted from her expressive – sometimes controversial – behaviour … She offers a unique perspective on the unwavering popularity of the reality genre, and how to overcome adversity in the public eye.”

More speakers are expected to be announced as the event approaches. Full bios on each presenter are available on the website. The November 14 event at Rogers Arena will be the largest TEDxVancouver conference in history after moving to the much larger venue from the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in previous years.
Event tickets priced at $99 are now on sale to the general public and can be purchased online on the TEDxVancouver website.
