MJS Round 2 NHL Playoff Predictions

Dec 19 2017, 11:49 am

These are predictions for Round 2 of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Detroit Red Wings vs. Anaheim Ducks
This will be a hard-fought series amongst the two current favourites from the West. Anaheim may be tougher, bigger and stronger, but Detroit’s puck possession, speed and high shot total will eventually prevail.
Wings in 6

Vancouver Canucks vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Battered and bruised, the Hawks come into the series with much less in the tank than the Nucks, who have had 10 days of beauty rest. The Canucks own Khabibulin, and Luongo is in the head of Toews and company.
Nucks in 5

Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes
The only reason I feel this will go to 7 games is because of the Canes’ experience from their recent Stanley Cup ring. But, after a hard-fought series with the Devils, there won’t be much energy left to overpower the Bruins.
Bruins in 7

Washington Capitals vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
This is possibly the most anticipated playoff series in recent years. It’s Crosby vs. Ovechkin. In the end, I feel Varlamov is for real in the Caps’ net and the Caps offence beats the Penguins.
Caps in 7
