Happy ending for lost cat that went missing onboard BC Ferries

A beloved tuxedo cat named Luigi has finally been found after going missing over two weeks ago on board a BC Ferries sailing.
BC Ferries made the happy announcement on its social media channels on Monday afternoon, confirming to its followers that Luigi was safely located on Sunday at the Tsawwassen terminal.
“Jeff Meier, a BC Ferries Commercial Services Driver, confirmed a sighting of a black and white cat under a trailer at the terminal,” said the announcement. “[This] prompted Karen from Haloās Pet Rescue, who has been leading the search for Luigi since he went missing, to come down to the terminal with her tracking dog, Halo.
“With the help of our crew, they did everything they could to lure him out from underneath the trailer while Neelya, Luigiās mom, made the trek from Vernon once she was informed that Luigi was spotted. Luigi was reluctant to show his face, but once he heard Neelyaās voice, however, he came out and the pair were happily reunited.”

Luigi had slipped out of a vehicle during a Coastal Inspiration trip from Duke Point to Tsawwassen on Saturday, Aug. 9.
Neelya Herbert previously told Daily Hive that she left her pets in her truck with food, water, and litter before heading upstairs, since passengers arenāt allowed to stay on the lower car deck.
“When we got back to the vehicle, there was only one dog and one cat in there,” she told Daily Hive. “Luigi was gone. He had squeezed out the back window that was open about an inch and a half.”
Followers celebrated the safe return of Luigi to his family on social media.
“I’m so relieved that this story has a happy ending,” said one person.
“Luigi, you were a legend sensation,” added another. “Everyone in Canada was looking for you, and you just cruised the sailing knowing that dad/mum would come back for you. Sooo happy.”
BC Ferries also used the opportunity to thank everyone for their hard work in reuniting Luigi and Herbert.

“Major shout-out to our BC Ferries crew that kept a vigilant eye out for Luigi and to Danny Lang, BCF Commercial Services Driver Lead, who left food out for him just in case he was around,” they said online. “Thank you to Karen and Halo, who searched for Luigi both in Tsawwassen and Nanaimo for countless hours until he was found.
“We are beyond grateful for everyoneās fruitful efforts to find Luigi and reunite him with his family.”
