Someone working at Metropolis at Metrotown tested positive for COVID-19 recently, and the mall is reassuring customers that the person is no longer on-site and the space is being disinfected.

According to an internal memo dated August 7, obtained by Daily Hive, the person is no longer working in the shopping centre, and cleaning protocols are being followed.

Metropolis’ general manager, Charles Fleck, declined to identify where the person worked out of concern for their privacy.

The mall also responded to concerns about the coronavirus case on Twitter.

“Rest assured that we have been following protocols and guidelines to respond to this situation including all cleaning requirements by a cleaning contractor trained to respond to the situation, in the areas under its control,” the mall tweeted.

Fraser Health has not added any coronavirus public exposure warnings related to Metropolis at Metrotown at time of writing.
