Metro Vancouver has finally experienced some proper spring weather, and there’s good news heading into next week because more sunshine and warm temperatures are on the way.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the sunshine will settle in for the weekend, with highs of 11°C forecasted for Saturday and 13°C expected on Sunday.

Heading into next week, the sun is expected to stay. ECCC notes that inland highs could reach 17°C, while temperatures near the water will still be pleasant at 14°C.

Wednesday is when things could really warm up, with highs of up to 19°C inland, and Thursday could see inland temperatures hit the 20°C mark.

In a March interview, ECCC warning preparedness meteorologist Lisa Erven indicated that B.C. could see a warming trend and temperatures above seasonal norms over the next few months across the province.

However, she noted that there’s also a probability of above-average precipitation throughout spring in sections of B.C.

The province’s spring weather is likely to be unpredictable as we transition out of a La Niña winter into what is known as an “ENSO-neutral” favoured forecast.
