Metro Vancouver temperatures are heating up the forecast for the first weekend of summer, and you’re going to need to slather on the sunscreen.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is calling for temperatures to hover between 21°C and 23°C from Friday, June 19, into Saturday, June 20.
However, temperatures will climb up to 26°C inland on Friday, and it will feel even hotter when factoring in the humidex.

“We’re seeing a pretty classic early summer upper ridge building, which is allowing temperatures to build,” said ECCC meteorologist Janelle Gergely to Daily Hive.
“The previous one, which broke temperature records, flattened out earlier this week, and now a new one is building off the coast. It will amplify up to Sunday and peak on Monday.”
The ECCC is calling for the UV Index to reach up to 8 or very high on Friday, when the humidex will make temperatures feel up to 28°C inland.
The ECCC added online that a humidex reading can help people make informed decisions about outdoor activities and heat-related health risks before venturing outside.

Temperatures in the Vancouver forecast will remain warm to start the upcoming work week, with inland highs reaching 28°C on Sunday and 30°C on Monday and Tuesday.
The weather overnight is expected to remain clear, with lows dipping between 13°C and 15°C over the next seven days.
“The upper ridge will move eastward on Wednesday, and there may be some unsettled weather ahead,” added Gergely. “Cooler temps and possibly even some thunderstorms are possible.
“We are flirting with some heat warning criteria in the south coast, but not in the Metro Vancouver region. Overnight lows are also not very high.”
