According to Environment Canada’s latest forecast, a strong high pressure system will bring an enduring period of sunshine with temperatures reaching 25°C by the water at the Vancouver International Airport weather station.

And these conditions could continue and run through the end of the month if long-term forecasts hold.

As for the short-term forecast, temperatures will steadily warm up between today and Sunday. Heavy rainfall is expected today, before conditions improve in time for the weekend when a mix of sun and cloud, with a chance of showers, is forecasted.

However, for those taking advantage of the sunshine by heading to the mountains, winter conditions over upper elevations prevail, so prepare and dress appropriately. As well, warming conditions could cause accelerate snow melt, causing streams and creeks to rise quickly without warning.
