While we’re counting down the days until the official start of fall, summer weather is still in full swing, with some parts of Metro Vancouver expected to feel like 38°C on Wednesday.
According to the most recent forecast from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), most of the week will remain sunny and quite warm.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for mainly sunny and hazy conditions, accompanied by light winds.
Highs of 25°C are expected near the water, with a maximum of 31°C. However, when factoring in humidex, ECCC anticipates some inland areas will feel more like 38°C.
According to ECCC, “humidex measures how hot we feel in hot, humid weather. It is a parameter intended for the general public to express how the combined effects of warm temperatures and humidity are perceived.”
The agency noted that it uses humidex when informing the general public that “conditions of heat and humidity are potentially uncomfortable.”

While clouds and cooler conditions are forecast for the weekend, the region is still expected to enjoy some more sunshine, at least for the beginning of the month.
Be sure to soak up the good weather while you can, because the official first day of fall arrives on Monday, Sept. 22, and we all know that Metro Vancouver autumn weather can bring in those grey skies and rain!
