One of Vancouver's favourite Jewish delis is returning next month

Nov 14 2018, 1:24 am

It’s been a while since we thought about those tender and delicious hot pastrami sandwiches from Mensch Jewish Delicatessen, but lucky for us Vancouverites, we’re about to get the chance to devour them again soon.

The deli previously operated under a pop-up format at 212 Carrall Street throughout winter and spring 2017 and we haven’t had its delicious eats since.

This time the eatery will be popping up for one night only, December 11, at Faculty Brewing (1830 Ontario Street).

Patrons can head to the pop-up from 6 pm onward until food runs out, and they will find slow-brined, smoked, and hand cut New York-style hot pastrami sandwich on fresh rye bread with mustard and a homemade pickle on the side.

This sandwich involves a 10-day brining process, eight hours of smoking, and four hours of steaming. Talk about worth the wait.

There will also be beet-cured Lox served with Labneh cheese on a fresh poppy seed bagel up for order.

Be sure to mark your calendar for this one-day foodie pop-up, it’s a true can’t-miss.
