Mariners fan lays into Blue Jays supporters with several hilarious signs

A Seattle Mariners fan took shots at Toronto Blue Jays fans and all Canadians at T-Mobile Park on Saturday afternoon.

After Blue Jays fans showed up with big support for their club in yesterday’s outing, one Mariners fan in particular made sure to show up for his team. The fan brought several poking fun at Canadians. One pointed out that the United States has taken home the last 29 straight Stanley Cups, while another held a sign that read, “May I remind you the score was 8 to 1,” referencing the Blue Jays epic collapse in last year’s playoffs versus the Mariners which led to their exit.

In last night’s game, Blue Jays fans didn’t hold back on singing the Canadian national anthem and loudly supporting their team throughout, though Mariners fans had the last laugh as Teoscar Hernandez walked it off in the ninth to give them a 3-2 victory. Saturday’s outing was much higher in score, though once again the Mariners were able to take it by a 9-8 final.

This marks the second straight frustrating loss for the Blue Jays, who haven’t been able to hold their leads versus the Mariners in this series. With the loss, their record drops to 54-45. Meanwhile, the Mariners improved to 50-48 and are now just 3.5 games back of the Blue Jays for the final wild card position in the American League standings.

While losing this series is certainly disappointing to the Blue Jays and their fans, they still have an opportunity to end it on a good note with a win tomorrow afternoon. The two sides are set to get underway at 4:10 pm ET/1:10 pm PT, with Alek Manoah (6.18 ERA) going up against Bryan Woo (4.74 ERA). It will be a huge start for Manoah, who is at risk of being demoted to the bullpen with Hyun-jin Ryu returning to the club following his Tommy John surgery.
