Blue Jays fans invade Mariners' home stadium on Friday night

Last night’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners took place south of the border, but you wouldn’t have known it with all the support the road team had.

Getting underway in the first of a three-game series on Friday night, the Mariners’ T-Mobile Park was filled with Blue Jays fans who made the trip down to support their team. The stadium erupted with cheers for many of the Blue Jays’ highlights, including several Yusei Kikuchi strikeouts and a Danny Jansen homerun.

Jansen’s homerun would be the only run put on the board until the seventh inning when both teams scored one each. The Mariners were able to tie things up in the eighth, and despite playing in what had to have felt like a road game, they were able to walk it off thanks to a hard-hit ball off the bat of former Blue Jay Teoscar Hernandez.

While it was a disappointing start for the Blue Jays, they still have two more games remaining as they attempt to win the series for their fans that have made the trek down south. You can guarantee that when today’s game kicks off at 4:10 pm ET/1:10 pm PT, there will once again be many Blue Jays fans in attendance. Perhaps they will even get an opportunity to belt out the Canadian national anthem once again.

With the loss, the Blue Jays now sit at a record of 54-44, which has them third in the AL-East as well as in the third wild card position. The Mariners, meanwhile, have improved to 49-48, which has them fourth in the AL-West and 4.5 games back of the final wild-card spot. This series means a ton for them in terms of their playoff chances despite the fact there is plenty of the season remaining.
