10-year-old boy suffers gunshot wound in Maple Ridge

Police in Maple Ridge are investigating after a 10-year-old boy was injured in an incident on Thursday that involved a firearm.

According to Ridge Meadows RCMP, the incident took place around 3:40 pm, when police received a report of a 10-year-old boy who had suffered a gunshot wound, which occurred in the 24000 Block of 110th avenue.

The boy was taken to hospital and the scene has been secured by police.

This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety,” said Ridge Meadows RCMP in a statement. “The investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time.”
