A man “intent on damage” was arrested and charged following an incident at the facility of a “local helicopter company,” according to Vancouver police.

According to VPD, the incident began during “one afternoon last week,” when staff at the facility “were surprised to look outside and see a man inside a secure area where a helicopter was parked.”

Police said staff watched as the man then allegedly “tore the door off the helicopter.”

As the employees “raced outside” to try and stop him in response, “he continued his attempts to damage the aircraft.”

The suspect also “allegedly threatened to kill the employees,” and as police arrived, he fled by jumping over a perimeter fence.

He then reportedly picked up a large rock, approached the police car, and threw it at the windshield, smashing the glass and sending fragments flying in the direction of the approaching officer’s face.

The man was arrested and is now charged with break-and-enter, mischief, assault police officer, and threatening.

The officer was not injured in the incident.
