Man critically injured after alleged stabbing on transit bus in Richmond

Richmond RCMP are investigating after a man allegedly stabbed another man while both of them were on a transit bus in Richmond on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said that at around 2 pm, officers responded to “multiple” 911 calls regarding an incident onboard a TransLink bus near No. 3 Road and Cambie Road.

It is alleged that a physical altercation occurred between two passengers.

One passenger, a 42 year-old Richmond resident, was transported to hospital by emergency medical personnel suffering from critical stab wounds, as a result of the incident.

Another passenger, a 21 year-old man, also from Richmond, was arrested and remains in police custody.

Police do not believe there are any further suspects outstanding in the incident.

The Richmond RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and are asking for any public assistance in the case.

In particular, police  are asking that anyone who was on the bus at the time of the incident “to please contact us if you have not already done so,” said Richmond RCMP Const. Sandra Chan. “Your information is very important to our investigation.”
