A man in Vancouver who was upset his car was being towed used a hammer to smash the tow truck driver’s window Monday morning.

A witness at the scene recorded what happened and shared the video with Daily Hive. It shows the man yelling and kicking the tow truck before going into a nearby restaurant saying, “I have the weapon.”

The man comes back with a hammer and smashes the truck driver’s window as bystanders urge him to calm down.

The incident happened at a plaza at 3490 Kingsway, near the Vancouver-Burnaby border, around 11 am, according to Const. Tania Visintin with the Vancouver Police Department.

The man was arrested and taken to jail, she said.

“Thankfully no one was injured in the altercation.”

According to the witness, the man owns a business in the plaza and was parked in front of his own shop.

“I was pretty shocked this was happening,” the witness said, who rushed out of the laundromat nearby to see what was going on.

It appeared the man was associated with Jenjudan bubble tea, according to the witness. A worker who answered the phone at Jenjudan declined to comment, but a worker at another restaurant in the plaza said they believed the car belonged to Jenjudan’s owner.

Daily Hive has reached out to Drake’s Towing for comment.
