Man in his 20s dead after shooting in Richmond: RCMP

Jan 10 2021, 5:32 pm

Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers and homicide detectives are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Richmond on Saturday night – the third fatal shooting in the region this week.

In a press release, Richmond RCMP said that officers were called to a residence in the 8100 block of Lansdowne Road just before midnight on January 9.

Upon arrival, officers and Emergency Health Services personnel found a male in his 20s who was suffering from “multiple” gunshot wounds.

He has since succumbed to his injuries, police said.

It is not clear if the murder is linked to the ongoing — and many say — escalating gang conflict in the region.

Members of the Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit and investigators from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) remained on scene Sunday as they continue their investigation.

This is the second fatal shooting the city has seen in just three days.

On January 7, police said a man was shot and killed in a park near the the area of Moncton St. at No.1 Road.

The RCMP has not said if the two cases are related.
