Man who kicked bus doors and assaulted driver arrested: Transit Police

The suspect caught on camera aggressively kicking the front door of a bus and assaulting the driver has been arrested under the Mental Health Act, according to Metro Vancouver Transit Police.

On October 29, Transit Police were called to investigate a report that a bus operator had been spat on. The incident took place onboard a bus in Burnaby near Canada Way and Hardwick.

Footage of the incident was also posted on social media showing a clip of the man kicking the bus door and proceeding to spit on the driver before exiting the bus.

On Thursday morning, Transit Police were notified by Burnaby RCMP that the suspect involved had been identified and was apprehended under the Mental Health Act for an unrelated matter.

The arresting officers recognized the man as the suspect in the video posted on social media.

Transit Police investigators are continuing to follow up on the file in regards to potential charges related to the incident.
