A Vancouver man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in the city’s Downtown Eastside neighbourhood on Canada Day.

In a release on Monday, Vancouver Police said the incident took place when officers were called to East Hastings Street and Hawks Avenue shortly after 10:30 am for reports of a stabbing.

Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim to be 49-year-old Daniel Haydon, who was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries two days later.

Investigators determined the suspect to be 52-year-old Luis Maulen, who has now facing one count of second-degree murder in connection with Haydon’s death.
