Lyft offering discounted rides to polling locations during BC election period

Over a 10-day period starting on October 15, Lyft will be providing Metro Vancouver residents with a discounted one-way ride-hailing ride to BC election polling stations.
The offer covers the advance voting period and the general voting day on October 24, with riders able to access discounted one-way rides to any polling location or dropbox. This offer is valid from 7:30 am to 8 pm daily during the election period.

Riders can access the offer by using the code VOTEBC2020 to receive 50% off a Lyft ride up to $10 to perform their civic duty. The code can only be used once per person.
The company says the offer helps ensure transportation is not a barrier to voting during the complexities caused by COVID-19.
“Transportation should never be a barrier to getting to the polls, no matter how you choose to cast your ballot,” said Peter Lukomskyj, general manager of BC for Lyft, in a statement.
“At Lyft, we’re pleased to be helping facilitate these crucial rides for people in Metro Vancouver as they exercise their right to vote.”
Lyft offered similar discounted rides to polling stations in Ontario for the 2019 federal election, and during various elections in the United States, including the upcoming presidential election. Uber is also offering a similar discount for the forthcoming election in the US.
