Lululemon has quietly closed down its Lab location in Downtown Vancouver.

The design concept store, which opened in 2009, was located in Gastown and focused on “technically-minded,” “aesthetically-motivated garments for modern life,” according to the brand.

The space featured a team of in-house designers and a sampling room, with collections produced in more limited quantities than other offerings.

The Lab in Gastown was the sole location of its kind in Canada and one of two in North America. The remaining location is located in Noho, New York.

A spokesperson with Lululemon tells Daily Hive that the decision was made due to Lab products being moved to some of the retailer’s larger stores, as well as being made more accessible online.

The collection itself, as well as future releases, will continue to live through the website and select locations.

Lululemon has also confirmed with Daily Hive that they will not be keeping the space, which is located at 50 Powell Street.
