If you are sick, please stay home.

A devastating fire, smallpox outbreaks, and unsolved murders.

Step into the Vancouver of the past on the Lost Souls of Gastown walking tour, and discover the city’s unsettling history.

The tour whisks guests into a “world of murder, revenge, and true grit” as they learn about the gruesome murder of a gold prospector, the Great Fire of 1886, and the restless ghosts of Gaoler’s Mews. It promises a “shocking” finale.

A combination walking tour and theatre piece, The Lost Souls of Gastown bills itself as an interactive experience, “that pulls you so deep into the swirling lamplight and darkened alleys of Gastown’s murky past, you may have a hard time finding your way back out.”

Taking place completely outside, the tour is a delightfully spooky way to celebrate Halloween amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The tour is only available to small groups, and social distancing is maintained throughout. Masks are also highly encouraged.

The Lost Souls of Gastown is part of Forbidden Vancouver Walking Tours, and was written by the company’s founder and chief storyteller, Will Woods.

“Every story is based on documented accounts from our city’s earliest years – you’re re-living this gothic history with a compelling storyteller as your guide,” said Woods.
