Update: As of 10 a.m. on June 15, DriveBC reports the incident on the bridge has been cleared.Ā
If you’re heading between downtown Vancouver and the North Shore this morning, brace yourself: the Lions Gate Bridge is partially open due to a previous vehicle incident, causing major traffic delays.
In an update, VPD confirmed that the bridge now has one lane in each direction open.

Previously, DriveBC had advised it was closed in both directions.
Earlier this morning, Vancouver Police Department media relations officer Const. Tania Visintin confirmed officials were investigating a crash that occurred on the bridge earlier this morning.
“The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but speed may have played a factor. No one was injured,” she told Daily Hive in a statement.
Traffic was being diverted at both ends, and congestion has built up rapidly through the Stanley Park Causeway and Georgia Street corridor.
Alternate routes to consider as the bridge is still operating with an open lane in each direction:
- Ironworkers Memorial Bridge via Highway 1
- Burrard or Cambie Bridge for downtown detours
