Just because Cinco de Mayo lands on a Saturday this year, doesn’t mean you have to wait until the weekend to start the party.

If you’re looking extend your Cinco de Mayo plans over through the entire weekend, you might want to start with Sol Fiesta Mexico.

Presented by Latincouver and Latin American Week, the fiesta is a way for Vancouverites to learn about different Latin cultures through food, music, and dance.

The event is part of the Sol Fiesta series, cultural events that highlight the culture of countries and regions like Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, and the Carribean.

Each event leads up to when Carnaval del Sol, the largest Latin festival in the Pacific Northwest, takes over Concord Pacific Place. Each Sol Fiesta shows a little bit of what the main Carnaval has to offer and some of the bands and DJs that will be at the event.

The event takes place on Friday, May 4, the perfect prelude for Cinco de Mayo. Tickets can be purchased online, starting at $15 or $20 at the door.
