Late Night Thought: Newton is the New Whalley and Cloverdale is Still Surrey, Sorry

The poor people of Newton (‘hood in Surrey) you just can’t buy a victory these days. Sure 10 years ago you all lived in shiny new McMansions in search of the suburban dream. Cul-de-sacs, fenced yards and generic housing, the corner stone of any suburban development are now full of crack dens, gang hideouts and drive-by shootings. Yes, now that shine has worn off and you’re stuck with such fine establishments as Ravi Bar and Grill and a brand spanking new casino.
Surrey’s suburban dream is fast becoming a nightmare as it attempts to deal with its identity crisis. Is it a suburban slum or some half-assed city with poor transportation and infrastructure, or both?

When Scott Road and King George are your main streets, you know you got a problem. Viz.
