Langley RCMP is currently investigating a break and enter in the 10100 block of Allard Crescent.

Police were called shortly after 1 p.m. today when a tenant, accompanied by his friend, entered his home and came face-to-face with a male who had apparently broken into the residence.

The suspect had a large knife in his hand, however, the tenant was undeterred. The two men ended up in a physical altercation that traveled down a set of stairs.

The suspect was stabbed in the leg and the tenant was stabbed in the hand during the fall.

The wounded suspect attempted to flee through the carport and steal a vehicle from the driveway belonging to the tenant’s friend. He was unsuccessful as the tenant and the vehicle’s owner pulled him from the vehicle.

Both the tenant and the suspect have been transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries. Initially, the suspect’s injury was thought to be life-threatening however he appears to have improved significantly since his arrival at the hospital.

The investigation suggests he arrived on a motorbike stolen out of Maple Ridge. A female, believed to be associated to the suspect, standing at the entrance to the property was arrested nearby.

Police will continue their investigation to determine the appropriate charges for recommendation to Crown Counsel.
