Editorial note July 10: Kinton Ramen UBC has delayed its soft opening and will not be opening on July 20. The shop is slated to open in early August.

After some understandable delays, Toronto-based noodle house Kinton Ramen has revealed the official soft opening date of its first Vancouver outpost.

Slated to be the only full-service dining option on the UBC campus, Kinton will be opening on July 20 atĀ 6111 University Boulevard.

The chain first opened in Toronto in 2012. It operates under the umbrella of the Canadian-owned Kinka Family restaurant group.

With over ten locations in Ontario and several in Montreal, the Vancouver location will be the concept’s first in Western Canada.

The noodle joint is known for its authentic Japanese ramen and casual atmosphere. Patrons can expect eats for lunch and dinner developed by Executive Chef Aki Urata.

There will be five styles of ramen up for order with the diner’s choice of either slow-cooked pork or chicken broth.

Varieties include a vegetarian option along with Original, Shoyu, Miso, Spicy Garlic, and Spicy JalapeƱo.

Folks can also choose thick, thin, or shirataki noodles.

In addition to these eats, Kinton UBC will have Sapporo beer, sake, Asian-inspired cocktails, and Japanese-inspired desserts likeĀ matcha ice cream and kurogoma cheesecake made with baked black sesame.

For the soft-opening week, folks can enjoy a 20% off all ramen dishes, available for both dine-in and takeout.

Be sure to make a point to check this place out once it opens.
