Just days before Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada, tensions are boiling over in Kamloops, B.C.
A group that is being referred to as “white nationalists” showed up in Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc land in Kamloops. The group is believed to be Second Sons.
On Instagram, the group describes itself as a “Canadian Men’s Nationalist Club.”
The group showed up in white masks, with some holding a sign that reads, “Got Bones?”
The sign is a reference to their belief that there were no residential school graves in Kamloops, which was widely reported back in 2021.
Journalist Brandi Morin shared a video of the group assembling on X.

BC NDP Leader David Eby called the group out on X, calling them cowardly.

“This is just disgraceful, disgusting behaviour,” Eby said to reporters as a follow-up.
Interim Conservative Party leader Lorne Doerkson also chimed in.
“The white nationalist gathering on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc land this morning was hateful and meant to intimidate. It has no place in British Columbia, and B.C. Conservatives condemn it completely. We stand with the people of Tk’emlúps, and we expect the RCMP to investigate fully,” he said.
Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Chief Rosanne Casimir shared a statement about the incident.
“The presence of individuals associated with white supremacist and white nationalist activity in our community is deeply concerning and is being taken seriously by Chief and Council. We recognize the fear, anger, and concern this may create for our members, Survivors, families, and staff. We hear those concerns, and we are taking action,” Casimir said.
She also addressed the upcoming Truth and Reconciliation Day.
“With the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation approaching on [Sept. 30], we recognize that the presence of individuals associated with this group may heighten concern, particularly for Survivors, Intergenerational Survivors, and their families.”
She has also urged her community to stay vigilant and aware of their surroundings, and to report suspicious activity to RCMP, referencing police file 26-32568.
Despite the outcry from leaders, it’s clear that purported white nationalist groups like Second Sons have a lot of support in Canada. This White Lives Matter post received lots of support and celebration from people responding in the comments.
Some are calling for the Second Sons to be declared a terrorist organization in Canada. Many other residents are also reacting to the news.

Prime Minister Mark Carney also chimed in, saying, “The cowardly act that took place at Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc yesterday [is] abhorrent. It has no place in this country. My thoughts are with everyone who [is] shaken and hurt by this disgusting display of hate.”
The RCMP is looking into the matter and told Castanet Kamloops that it condemns the “cowardly” display.
