A live-streamed tribute for Captain Jennifer Casey and the CF Snowbirds is being held on Thursday morning.

Captain Casey, a member of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, passed away after a plane crash in Kamloops, British Columbia. The Snowbirds were touring across the interior of BC as part of Operation Inspiration, a cross-Canada tour to increase morale during the pandemic.

The ceremony is being held by the Kamloops Legion and will take place at 11 am. Several invited presenters and speakers will participate in the event, however, the Legion stresses that the event will not exceed 50 people and that proper physical distancing is being maintained.

Due to concerns of a mass gathering, the event will not be open to the public but will rather be live-streamed on Facebook.

“Our tribute ceremony offers everyone a moment to pause, listen to the words of remembrance, hear the bugle and piper, and remember in our own way,” the legion wrote.

Casey’s family said in a statement that she was “always one for adventure” and that Operation Inspiration “seemed to be designed for her.”
