Canadian pop start Justin Bieber has been busy on social media this week.
Before posting a lengthy and heartfelt post about his struggles with depression and “heavy drugs,” the 25-year-old singer shared an interesting family tree link that shows he could be a distant relative to two other Canadian stars.

Bieber shared a screenshot of his family tree from theĀ genealogical network site Ancestry.com. which showed that he may be related to both Ryan Gosling and Avril Lavigne.

“IĀ also just found out that Iām related to both Ryan gosling and Avril Lavigne this is the best day of my life.. it seems super legit itās on ancestry.com,” reads the singer’s Instagram post.
The family tree has a few deep branches, suggesting that Lavigne could be Bieber’s 12th cousin and Gosling could be his 11th cousin, once removed.
Lavigne reacted to the post by commenting, “Iāll host Christmas dinner this year” and Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, quipped ”Ā I always saw a strong resemblance.”
No word yet on whether or not Ancestry.com’sĀ genealogical traces are strong enough to prove if Bieber was ever a “Skater Boy.”
