Justin Bieber opens up about depression and heavy drug use in Instagram post

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber took to social media to open up about the “drug abuse” and depression he dealt with as he became “ultra successful.”

In a lengthy Instagram post, the 25-year-old described what young adulthood is like growing up in the spotlight and having “millions of dollars and access to whatever I wanted.”

“I was 18 with no skills in the real world,” he wrote, “By 20 I made every bad decision you could have thought of.”

Bieber went on to describe a time in his life where he was “doing pretty heavy drugs,” in which he said he “abused all of [his] relationships.”

“I became resentful, disrespectful to women, and angry. I became distant to everyone who loved me, and I was hiding behind, a shell of a person that I had become,” said Bieber.

The Canadian superstar, who has previously been candid about his mental health struggles, concluded his post by saying “All this to say, even when the odds are against you keep fighting. Jesus loves you.”

Bieber has taken an extended break from music after cancelling the final 14 dates of his 2017 “Purpose World Tour.”

He has not released a new album since 2015, citing a desire to a take a “hiatus” from music.

He has since married model Hailey Baldwin.

Most recently, Bieber appeared as a guest vocalist on Ed Sheeran’s single “I Don’t care” prompting speculation among his fans as to when he might return with new material.
